Privacy Policy

Last updated: 4 October 2026

zapvert ("we") is a free online file converter operated by Codelaice (codelaice.co.za), South Africa. This policy explains what happens to your files and data when you use zapvert.com. The short version: we convert your file, send it back to you, and delete it.

Your files

  • Files you upload are used only to perform the conversion you asked for.
  • They are stored in a temporary folder on our server for the duration of the conversion and deleted as soon as the converted file is sent back to you. Nothing is kept afterwards.
  • We never open, read, share, sell or use your files for any other purpose, including training AI models.
  • Files are transferred over an encrypted connection (HTTPS).

What we record

  • Conversion statistics: for each conversion we store the source and target format, file sizes, how long it took and, if it failed, the converter's error message. We do not store file names, file contents or who made the request.
  • Rate limiting: to prevent abuse, we count conversions per IP address in one-hour windows. Each counter is deleted automatically once its window ends, normally within two hours.
  • No access logs: our web server does not keep logs of visitors' requests.

Cookies and analytics

Your language choice is saved in your own browser (local storage) and never sent to us.

We use Google Analytics to understand how zapvert is used, for example which conversions are popular. Analytics cookies are only set if you click "Accept" in the cookie notice. If you decline or ignore it, Google Analytics runs in cookieless mode: it receives anonymous signals such as page views without storing cookies on your device. Google Analytics never receives your files. Google may process this data outside your country, including in the United States; see Google's Privacy Policy. You can change your choice at any time by clearing this site's data in your browser.

Where your data is processed

Our server runs on Amazon Web Services in Ireland (EU). Domain names are resolved by Amazon Route 53. Analytics data is processed by Google (see above).

Legal basis and your rights

We process personal information only as needed to provide the service you request and to protect it from abuse, in line with South Africa's Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA) and, for visitors in the EU, the GDPR (Art. 6(1)(b) and 6(1)(f)). Because we do not keep your files or identify you, there is usually no personal information for us to give back or delete. You can still contact us about access, correction, deletion or objection. You may also complain to South Africa's Information Regulator (inforegulator.org.za) or to your local data protection authority.

Children

zapvert is not directed at children under 16.

Changes

If we change this policy, we will update the date at the top of this page.
